ALTERNATIVE PROVISION FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Our Alternative Provision provides support for young people who benefit from spending some time in a setting outside of mainstream education. We take a holistic approach and aim to develop transferable skills, so that our students can reengage in life and learning. We do this through developing positive relationships and creating opportunities for young people to connect with themselves and their peers, to be in nature and experience the unique relationship between horses and humans.

We work with each young person, alongside their parents or carers and school staff, to get to know their individual needs. Our work predominately takes place outdoors and we aim to create a relaxed informal environment where the learning is very much led by the interests of our students.

For the young people who come to us, Transitions offers an opportunity to be seen, met and validated as the wonderful human beings that they are. Our approach is underpinned by a theoretical base of attachment theory, child development, neuroscience and an understanding that all children's behaviour is an expression of their underlying needs. Our package combines The Thrive Approach, Equine Assisted Therapy and outdoor learning inspired activities, all of these approaches have a multitude of benefits on a physical, mental and emotional level.
